Power of the New

One of the most compelling reasons to think about a next generation of business intelligence software is a very basic idea - that we need to understand what's new in our surroundings, not just track trends and deviations from trends that we already well know. Big difference between identifying a deviation from budget vs. finding new market opportunity that has emerged from a competitor switching their distribution strategy. Old BI certainly could help you with the former, but equally certainly will not help you with the latter. Wouldn't it be great if we all could be equiped to discover the new?
