SQL SERVER – Who needs ETL Version Control?
While making some changes (read: mistakes) to my ETL business logic the other day, it occurred to me much too late that those unfortunate changes had replaced the once properly working logic with now very flawed logic. The good news was that I remembered what the working logic was supposed to be. The bad news, I had to re-create it. Had I had the working logic already checked-in under version control, I could have saved myself the two hours of wasted time and effort. In an ETL team development setting, these types of issues could easily multiply and significantly impede developer progress and productivity.

Major download milestone achieved.
This week expressor software hit 10,000 unique downloads of expressor Studio, our desktop ETL product. Most of the open source companies quote ridiculous numbers like 11 million downloads, which of course means they count everything, like white papers, brochures, product documentation, etc. We count only unique users of our software.
More importantly, we’re demonstrating that there is a big appetite out there for feature-rich, innovative, and affordable data integration software. The growth of data continues to accelerate, and it’s getting messier not cleaner. Without the right solutions, it’s getting harder—instead of easier—to turn data into insight. Companies, government institutions, non-profits, schools and all organizations that employ more than a handful of people are trying to get more value from their data with fewer resources.
That’s why expressor Studio resonates with them. You can download expressor Studio at www.expressorStudio.com.
