Data Management or Data Confusion?
April 7, 2006
I received the following questions via e-mail from a frequent attendee of our Webinars. Normally I just respond to the e-mail, but in this case I thought the answers should be shared with my blog readers too.
I am conducting research in order to develop a plan for implementing a Data Quality and Compliance Program into my business unit and my research has created confusion for me with regard to all of the various nomenclatures that touch on Data Quality, and to some degree, Compliance.
I find multiple references to Data Quality, Data Management, Data Governance and Data Stewardship. There appears to be significant overlap across the roles and responsibilities of each of the titles and I'm looking for your insight into how to define the four roles. How do they differ, where are they the same, and what would utopia be for an infrastructure that integrates all of the above?
